About the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership

BNY Mellon Katz InvitationalThe David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership was established in 1999 as part of the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. Our mission is to add value to organizations through ethical leadership. To accomplish this, we focus on creating and utilizing knowledge through cutting-edge research, experience-based learning, and active community engagement. Our commitment to ethical leadership fits perfectly within the University of Pittsburgh as a "leader in education, pioneer in research, and partner in regional development."

At the Berg Center, we have developed a strong portfolio of programs and activities that cut across our diverse array of students, and corporate and community partners. Our undergraduate Certificate in Leadership and Ethics provides an immersion experience for students who want to develop their awareness and skills as ethical leaders. The Organizational Leadership Certificate prepares MBA students to address key challenges as well as opportunities faced by dynamic and global organizations. In cooperation with the University of Pittsburgh Office of Human Resources, the Certificate in Organizational Leadership and Ethics focuses on preparing individuals to effectively lead across units, departments, and schools within a dynamic University system.

The Berg Center is also a proud sponsor of a number of innovative programs.

  • Our Woodcock MBA Fellows program pairs top MBA students with local nonprofit and community development corporation boards to work on strategic leadership projects.
  • The¬†Berg Center continues to¬†support innovative projects that examine how to measure the impact of socially responsible efforts among regional small-and medium-size enterprises through faculty and doctoral student research.
  • The Berg Center is sponsoring the Katz Invitational Case Competition which hosts top business schools from across the world. Visit the Katz Invitational website to find out more details for the 2017 Competition!
