A Message from the Dean Regarding the Derek Chauvin Trial

Dear Pitt Business Community: As I reflect on this past year full of tragedy and sadness, I find that I am simply unable to find the words that would adequately express what I need to share with you. Tragic and targeted acts of violence have become so common in this country that we are simply overwhelmed. Every new event further increases the psychological burden on all of us. As we digest the verdict of the Derek Chauvin trial, please know that I stand with the leadership of our University in shared knowledge that the fight for equality is not over. Please remember to take time for yourself, your mental well-being, and to check in on your loved ones. Consult the resources available to you, some of which I have listed below.   To echo the words of Dean Kenyon Bonner, “We need each one of you for the long fight for justice, peace, and healing.”

In solidarity,

Arjang
