Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration and the Pitt Black MBA Network for a candid and open panel discussion regarding race in government and corporate America.  Our panelists represent multiple facets of the black professional experience.  This includes generational, gender, and sexual orientation-based differences.

About the Panelists:

Gloster B. Current, Jr. is a retired corporate executive with expertise in marketing, finance and operations.  Professionally, Gloster served as Vice President at Northwestern Mutual Corp. (Milwaukee, WI) where he was President of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. Prior to Northwestern, Gloster was Chief Marketing Officer for Lincoln Financial Group, Philadelphia, Pa. where he negotiated and signed the naming rights deal for Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles. He also served as Vice President of Citibank, North America where he led a national staff responsible for U.S. retail marketing activities in New York, California, Florida, Illinois and Washington, D.C./Maryland.  He previously served in a variety of executive positions with Kentucky Fried Chicken Co., Procter & Gamble, and A.T. & T.

Prior to and into retirement, Gloster served on the Board of Directors of A.O. Smith Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of residential/commercial water heating equipment, and water filtration products. He served on this Board for 10 years, and was a member of the Audit Committee.

Gloster is one of the founders of the Pitt Black MBA Network, known colloquially as “PBAN”, an organization of diverse graduates from the Katz School of Business. He is also a 2014 recipient of the Katz Distinguished Service Award.

Gloster earned a BA degree in accounting from Howard University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He has earned the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) from the American College.

Hobbies:  Golf; reading and traveling.

Passion:  Helping others through coaching and business consultation.


Kristin Hayes is a Human Resources Business Partner who is passionate about coaching leaders, using an organization’s most important resources -people - to unlock growth. She is works for General Mills as the Human Resource Manager for the Chief Brand Officer and the Brand Experience organization.  She partners with business leaders in setting strategies, placing the right people in the right positions and helping to make sure they are inspirations to the organization. Her professional development has blossomed with increasing responsibility at General Mills since 2013- from supporting both manufacturing  corporate headquarter environments. While at the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business, Hayes pursued her MBA with a concentration in strategy, organizational behavior and marketing. As a summer intern at Giant Eagle Supermarkets, Hayes designed and implemented a plan for the company's Inclusion and Diversity strategic mission. Hayes received her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. In Kristin’s free time, she mentors early career Human Resources Professionals, has volunteered as a Girl Scout Troop leader, and serves on the Black Alumni Board of the University of Pittsburgh Business School.


Marcus Robinson is a Housing Compliance Analyst for the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh. His primary role is to ensure URA housing programs are compliant with funding regulations, in addition to assessing and monitoring the performance of the loan portfolio. He has also served on the Mayor’s LGBTQIA+ Advisory Council of Pittsburgh and the Pitt LGBTQIA+ Alumni Advisory Council. Marcus is a 2020 graduate of CMU Heinz College and a 2017 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
