Multi-Cultural Business

Today’s business environment is diverse and being aware of various cultures is not only a boon but also a necessity. IBA helps students experience different cultures at Katz in a fun, learning environment while staying relevant to today’s business practices and workforce. Through engagement and activities, club members will develop global mindsets, gain diverse networking opportunities, and enhance their business skills.

At the start of the Spring 2022 semester, IBA partnered with Katz and CBA to bring the first of the ‘Friday Forum: Inclusive Leadership Series – Lunar New Year’. We invited 4 speakers from within the Katz community to share how they celebrate the Lunar New Year festival based on their respective traditions. This was a light and celebration-filled information-sharing event for everyone in the Pitt Business community and counted towards the Inclusive Leadership Co-Curricular Certificate for those pursuing it.

In the Fall 2021 semester, IBA held a wildly successful event, the ‘IBA Fireside Chat: Landing an Internship as an International Student’ based on numerous student requests. Our guest speakers shared their internship search experiences and relevant tips with the Katz Community. This session covered how Katz International Students navigated the Covid job market and were successful in landing their internships. Through this event, IBA hoped to bring any insights that could help students get closer to their dream positions.

In the upcoming years, IBA is keen to bring forth more exciting programs such as speaker series, current global topic discussions, and networking events for Katz students to learn about different cultures and business practices in an interactive learning environment.
