Operations Club - Pitt Business

Student Life // Operations Club

Global View of Operations

Our Mission

To provide students with a well-rounded, global view of operations and its subsequent career opportunities through case competitions, networking events, speaker engagements, and information sessions.

Case Competitions

Each Fall semester, the Operations Club hosts the annual internal Crane Case Competition, which is sponsored by corporate sponsor Crane Corporation and which highlights a supply chain-related issue. Additionally, the club’s members form case competition teams to represent Katz in several other notable operations-related case competitions, including but not limited to those sponsored by Tepper Graduate School of Business, Rutgers Graduate School of Business, TCU Neeley School of Business, APICS, and Bayer.

Networking Events

Hosted both on and off campus, club-organized networking events occur several times throughout the year and provide students with excellent opportunities to connect with operations professionals from various industries, graduate schools, and professional organizations – including APICS, ASQ, and PMI – at a personal level. Past events have included corporate-sponsored symposiums, rapid networking events, and happy hour gatherings, as well as various other events with Katz alumni and faculty.

Speaker Engagements

The Operations Club brings experienced operations professionals to campus for speaker sessions surrounding operations-related career paths, industry trends, and cutting-edge technology. Due to Katz’s intimate class sizes, speaker engagements often serve as an excellent networking opportunity for attendees.

Information Sessions

Full-time employment and internship opportunities are focal points of the business school experience, and the Operations Club actively identifies companies who are seeking students with skills and interests in an operations-related field and hosts them on campus.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

There was a great spirit of cooperation and camaraderie amongst my fellow students. I keep in touch with a number of my fellow Katz classmates to this day and we all agree that our time at Katz had a significant impact on our lives and careers.

MBA '02

The best part of my Pitt Business experience was the relationships I made during my time as an MBA student at Katz. Many thanks to Dean Assad for enabling me to pursue my passions through the various electives, clubs, and workshops.
