Dean Anderson’s Message: Growing the Legacy of Pitt Business

Dear Pitt Business Alumni,

I am thrilled that August 1st is finally here and it is time to begin my appointment as the 8th Henry E. Haller Jr. Dean of Pitt Business.

Preparing for this transition has been an intensive and rigorous process. It has been inspiring to learn about the rich history of the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and the College of Business Administration, the exceptional accomplishments of our alumni, and the remarkable momentum established under the leadership of Dean Arjang Assad. I’m excited to embark on the next phase together with you, and our students, faculty, staff, and partners.

During my career as a faculty member and academic leader, I have found that each school and university is unique and distinctive. As I begin this new role, I am once again a student. I want to understand your perspectives, your hopes, and your ideas. I look forward to hearing from you and to discovering how we can best build on the growing legacy of Pitt Business.

My first critical tasks are to listen, test out new ideas, and deepen my understanding of Pitt Business, Pitt, and Pittsburgh. I invite you to share with me your perspective on Pitt Business, and your hopes and aspirations for its future.

I have been fortunate to meet several alumni already and l want to thank them for the warm reception I have received as I return home to Pittsburgh. I hope to meet many more of you at alumni events, when you return to campus, and in the local community.

Please feel free to contact me with your ideas via email, LinkedIn, or Twitter. I look forward to hearing from you and learning about the many ways that Pitt Business can continue to grow in quality, impact, and reputation.

Finally, thank you, as always, for your ongoing and generous support of Pitt Business. Your gifts of time, talent, and treasure are essential to continuing, and accelerating, the school’s rise. I invite and encourage you to make a commitment to Pitt Business, to the impact it had on you, and to the impact our community will have on the ideas and graduates of the future.

Go Panthers and Hail to Pitt!

Gene
