Lisa Cherok, director of admissions for Pitt’s College of Business Administration, has been named winner of the 2022 Chancellor’s Staff Award for Outstanding Career Achievement, the University’s highest staff honor.

In his message, Chancellor Patrick Gallagher stated: “The Outstanding Career Achievement category recognizes a staff member with more than 20 years of unparalleled service to the University of Pittsburgh who, throughout their career, has made exceptional contributions to the success of their department and the University, who has earned the respect of their peers, and whose efforts have defined what it means to be part of the University community.”

Interim Associate Dean Lawrence Feick said he couldn’t agree more with the Chancellor’s points and his wisdom in selecting Cherok, who has been part of the undergraduate program since its inception in 1995. She is among the 25@25 honorees who were chosen in 2021 who embody the mission of taking students From the Classroom, To the City, To the World.

“Lisa has been critical in the creation of the undergraduate program we know today,” Feick added in his announcement. “She oversaw the growth from a couple of hundred to more than 2,000 students and was a key contributor to its emergence as a top 10 public undergraduate business school. Please join me in congratulating our friend and colleague Lisa Cherok on this terrific recognition of all she has done for us over her career.”

In recognition of her achievements, Cherok’s name will be engraved on a plaque displayed permanently in the William Pitt Union.
