Finding The Right Fit
For Carmelena Moffa (MBA ’19), attending the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business was a clear option. The Katz Dual-Degree Program allows students to complete an MBA from Katz alongside a degree from another school within the University and was exactly what Moffa wanted.
“I chose Katz for several reasons,” says Moffa. “First, through the Katz partnership with GSPIA, I was able to complete the MBA-MPIA dual master’s program. Additionally, the small cohort at Katz enabled students to foster deep relationships among peers and faculty and staff. Finally, Katz also allowed me to participate in the Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship program and connect me with a network of alumni and companies to kick start my career.”
Building Experience
The networking aspect at Katz is a critical piece of the MBA experience and part of the reason why 88% of MBA students have a job offer at graduation. By connecting with local professionals and other Katz alumni, MBA students to get expand their professional network while gaining exposure to the business world around them.
“I really enjoyed attending the MBA career conference with my classmates,” says Moffa. “It was not only an opportunity for us to network and interview with many companies, but we were also able to support each other through the process and grow closer as a cohort.”

Creating Perspective
Students at Katz have so many opportunities outside of the classroom like student organizations, case competitions, and more. Moffa found her own ways to stay engaged.
“While at Katz, I had the opportunity to participate in the finance club, as well as case competitions,” says Moffa. “Additionally, I was a FLAS fellow, which allowed me to continue my studies in Portuguese while earning my MBA. These opportunities helped to propel me into my goal to work for an international company.”
Katz prepared us to work hard in our career and also showed us the importance of fostering relationships with our peers. The program also provided a great educational foundation to prepare us for our careers.
