Meet Sarah Munyoki

What is the most important thing you learned in the Micro-credential program?

My scientific training alone is not sufficient to thrive as an independent researcher. Acquiring professional skills in effective leadership and communication skills is essential for a successful career. I learned that no one is born with innate leadership and communication skills. Rather, these professional skills can be acquired by anyone under the right training environment which is exactly what the Micro-credential certificate provides.

What would you say to others who are considering enrolling in a Micro-credential?

The Micro-credential certification has equipped me with the necessary leadership and communication skills that will enable me to thrive during my postdoc and in my future as an independent principal investigator. My professional credentials give me a competitive advantage over my peers, and I am already reaping the benefits. I have utilized the knowledge I have gained to create a more positive and productive relationship with my mentors and mentees.
