The Katz Graduate School of Business Master of Science programs require you, as an international student, to do the following in order to apply for admission:

1. Complete and submit the online application.

2. Mail us the following paperwork:

  • Official transcripts from any previous coursework
  • GMAT and TOEFL reports (or GRE or IELTS scores, if applicable)*

Office of Admission
Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business

*Please note: Exam score reports can take up to four weeks to be received by our office. Keep this in mind when considering the application round for which you are applying.

What other documents am I required to submit as part of the application process?

There is one essay required as part of the online application. Essays should be no longer than one page, written in an essay format (no bullet points), and typed in Arial font.

You must also attach a résumé as part of the online application, typed in Arial font and printed in black ink only. This will help your résumé to look more professional.

During the online application process, you will be asked to list two people as references. These references will receive an automated email from Katz Admissions asking them to complete an online evaluation form and subsequent letter of recommendation. Letters of recommendation must be submitted online. Do not mail copies of letters.

You should not send any financial statements with your application. Financial statements are only necessary you have been admitted and accept our admission offer.

When will I find out if I have been admitted to the program?

The MS programs use an online application portal to communicate your application status directly to you. You be able to view your application status and what application materials we have received after you submit your application. Please submit your application before contacting our office regarding a piece of your application.

Note each application deadline and its coinciding notification deadline. If you submit your application after the application deadline, it will be considered in the following round. Please be sure to check your entire application before submitting it and carefully proofread each email that you send to the MS programs. We use all of your email correspondences in our review of your application.

Where can I check my application status?

Please allow ample time for overseas mail to be processed. You can check the progress of your submitted information at the online application portal.

I did not major in business during my undergraduate career. Can I still apply?

We encourage students with undergraduate concentrations in areas other than business to apply to our program.

**Accounting Applicants: Please note that if you have not completed accounting courses based on U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) you will need to complete additional prerequisite courses as part of your MS in Accounting or Accounting and Business Analytics degree program. MS in Accounting students typically complete the program in three or four terms (17–21 months). MS in Accounting and Business Analytics students typically require four terms (21 months) to complete the program.

Am I qualified to be admitted?

The average GMAT score for our international applicants is 640+, TOEFL is 100+, IELTS is 7.0. Our international applicant pool is extremely competitive. The admissions committee will review the entire application, which includes reading letters of recommendation and applicant essays.

Can I send you a scanned copy of my GMAT score?

Do I need a WES certification for my international transcript?

No. Please make sure you request an official, English translation along with the transcript in your native language. The transcript must be sent in a sealed envelope from your university.

After I apply, how long will I have to wait until receiving an admissions decision?

When you will receive your admission decision depends on when you applied.

Does the committee only look at TOEFL?

The admissions committee takes every piece of your application into consideration. The committee looks for well-rounded students, both academically and personally. The committee is interested in your hobbies, personality, weaknesses, and strengths. Make sure your application is an accurate reflection of you as an individual.

Can I request an interview?

The admissions committee determines which applicants they would like to interview regarding their application. If chosen, you will receive an invitation via email to web conference with a member of our admissions committee.

Do I need to send financial documents with my application?

No. We only require applicants who have been admitted and accept our admission offer to submit financial documents.

What do I need to physically mail to the program?

You only need to send your transcript and request GMAC and/or ETS to send your exam scores. We do not need copies of your resume, letters of recommendation, or GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL score reports that were submitted online.

The main reason to choose Katz was because it offers a wide variety of courses. Coming from a different country (Mumbai, India) and education system, I was a little anxious, but the staff, faculty and students have been extremely welcoming and kind.

Today, I seek out classes and opportunities (like the Super Analytics Challenge) to learn and grow in this new area. I feel empowered and proud in a way I wouldn’t have thought possible a few years ago.
