Profile

Shannon joined the Katz School of Business in 2020 after receiving her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. She served as the Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in Norwalk, Connecticut for the 2020-2021 academic year. Prior to pursuing her PhD, Shannon worked as an auditor at KPMG in Chicago and received a B.B.A in accounting from Loyola University Chicago.

Shannon’s research focuses on judgment and decision making in a financial reporting context, with an emphasis on how individual investors acquire and integrate accounting information into their investment decisions. She was drawn to this area of research because of its ability to inform regulators and standard setters about nonprofessional investors’ behavior.

Shannon and her husband Steve enjoy exploring Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods and parks. When she isn’t working, Shannon also enjoys trying new gluten-free recipes and spending time outdoors.
