The Pitt chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for accredited business schools, has been recognized as an Honors Chapter for the 2022-23 academic year.
This distinction recognizes the select faculty and student members of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration. The students are from the undergraduate, graduate, executive education, and PhD programs.
BGS said this recognition is “indicative of a campus where academic excellence is highly valued, and where your chapter officers work diligently to enhance Beta Gamma Sigma’s stature on campus.”
The Pitt BGS chapter is one of the oldest chapters in the world. The mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business and personal and professional excellence in the practice of business.
Founded in 1913, BGS is the International Business Honor society for schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The AACSB accredits just 5% of business schools worldwide assuring that BGS members belong to an organization that is synonymous with the highest standards of academic excellence.
In August 2023, Pitt Business had its AACSB accreditation renewed for the maximum of five years, through 2027-28. This represents the international seal of approval for business programs that provide high quality, continuous improvement, and excellence in education. The AACSB also notes that many global corporations only recruit from accredited business schools.
