Profile

Altaf Ahmad is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Information Systems and Technology Management area at the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Prior to joining Pitt Business in 2022, Altaf was a faculty member at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University where he served in numerous roles leading the undergraduate program in Information Systems and led the launch of the Business Data Analytics major. He taught undergraduate and graduate classes in programming, database, and web development. Altaf was also highly engaged with students through coaching them for case competitions, hackathons, and advising student clubs. For his teaching, leadership, and service, Altaf won multiple awards while at ASU and was twice a recipient of the Huizingh Outstanding Teacher award at the W. P. Carey School of Business.

Altaf earned his PhD from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Prior to that, he received his MBA from the University of Technology, Sydney in Australia and his bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Altaf was previously faculty at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

At Pitt Business, Altaf brings his successful experience in teaching programming to business students to deliver a new analytics programming class for business undergraduates.
