Chief Supply Chain Officer UPMC
Jim is the Chief Supply Chain Officer for UPMC, one of the largest and most diverse health care delivery systems in the nation. UPMC (which is affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh) focuses on medical research and manages a network of 20 rural and urban hospitals, 50 rehabilitation centers, surgery and specialty outpatient centers, and an area network of more than 4,000 physicians. UPMC also provides nursing, behavioral, personal care, and long-term care services. The Insurance Services Division primarily consists of the UPMC Health Plan, an HMO. UPMC also has a strong international and commercial services division with locations in Ireland, Italy, and the UK.
Recently named in the Journal of Healthcare Contracting’s list of Top Ten People to Watch and winner of numerous awards including Gartner Top 25 Supply Chain Organizations, Modern Healthcare’s Elite 18 Supply Chain Organizations, ASHMM’s Outstanding Supply Chain Program, and AHRMM’s Most Innovative Supply Chain Organization. Jim is accountable for developing and executing UPMC’s global supply chain strategy which includes effectively managing the systems over $2 billion annual third party spend. Jim serves on the Duquesne University Supply Chain Management program advisory board, the University of Pittsburgh Supply Chain Management program advisory board and is a board member of Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh. Jim is also founder and former president of Prodigo Solutions a supply chain technology and consulting services company focused on improving procurement process efficiency and compliance in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining UPMC in 2005, Jim was Vice President, Global Procurement Center of Excellence at Alcoa, Inc (NYSE: AA).
Jim is a graduate of Arizona State University and has extensive and varied experience in industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, and healthcare.
