Thomas E. Merriman

Tom Merriman is Director of Global Supply Chain & Logistics for MSA Safety, Inc., a global leader in the development, manufacture and service of innovative products that enhance worker safety and protect facility infrastructures. In his role with MSA, Mr. Merriman oversees all aspects of the company’s global supply chain and logistics operations. Most recently, he led a series of global initiatives to reduce costs in transportation and warehousing in North America, Europe, South East Asia, Australia and South Africa.
MSA’s core products include self-contained breathing apparatus, fixed gas and flame detection systems, portable gas detection instruments, industrial head protection products, fire and rescue helmets, and fall protection devices. This comprehensive product line is used by workers around the world in a broad range of markets, including the oil, gas and petrochemical industry, the fire service, the construction industry, mining and the military. With annual sales of $1.15 billion and operations in 42 global locations, MSA products are used in more than 140 countries and are supported globally by approximately 4,300 employees.
Mr. Merriman, who has spent his entire career with MSA, joined the company in 1972 as he worked his way through college. Over the years, he has held roles of increasing responsibility within a wide range of key functions, including materials management, information technology, and global logistics. With his current area of responsibility, Mr. Merriman serves as a member of MSA’s Global Leadership Team.
In addition to his MSA responsibilities, Mr. Merriman is a member of the MAPI Logistics Council. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a MBA from Duquesne University with an emphasis on supply chain management.
