2023 Super Analytics Challenge Overview
The National Institute of Mental Health estimated that in 2021, about one in five U.S. adults (18.5 percent) experiences mental illness each year and that around 5.5 percent of all adults live with a serious mental illness. However, less than half (47.2 percent) of adults with a mental illness received mental health services in the past year. While the realities of mental health are now less stigmatized and more openly addressed, there is a shortage of providers to meet the need for the services requested. The 2023 challenge focused on addressing this shortage of behavioral health and mental health workers. Download the challenge.
Projects presented at the 2023 finale included:
- Connecting veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to pet companionship
- AI-enhancing accessibility to mental health support through the Allegheny County website
- Supporting assimilation through wellness for incarcerated individuals

Advice to furture student participants, “Keep an open mind, understand the objective properly, talk to as many people you can to understand the problem, and come up with a solution that everybody on your team supports.
We love seeing academia, business, and future business leaders come together to solve not only just a challenge, but a challenge that impacts so many people.
