Profile
Dennis F. Galletta (PhD, University of Minnesota) is currently Director of Doctoral Programs at the Katz School, an adjunct at Harvard’s Summer Program, and a Professor in the MIS field. Formerly a Ben L. Fryrear Faculty Fellow at Katz, he is an AIS Fellow, has won an AIS Lifetime Achievement Award, and was President of AIS (a global association of Information Systems Faculty) in 2006.
In 2016 he won a University-wide Provost’s Mentorship Award, and with two co-authors, won a 2013 Citation of Excellence Award by Emerald Management Reviews for publishing one of the top 50 papers in business administration. In two studies of research productivity, he placed #2 in human factors in information systems and #9 in the MIS field overall. His primary interests are in behavioral security and human factors in information system design. He has co-authored 57 journal and 58 conference papers, most often with doctoral students. Nearly half of the journal papers reached our field’s top journals. He has garnered 14,140 citations to his work and his h-index score is 46, according to Google Scholar. He served as both Senior Editor (2018-2021) and Associate Editor (1999-2002) for the MIS Quarterly, Pre-Eminent Editor in DataBase, and is or was on the editorial boards of Information Systems Research, Journal of the AIS, and Journal of MIS. He was a founding Co-Editor in Chief of AIS Transactions on HCI for 10 years. For ICIS, he served as program co-chair in 2005 and conference co-chair in 2011.
He is co-author of an MBA and EMBA-level core course Information Systems textbook (with Keri Pearlson and Carol Saunders) that has the highest market share of the segment, published by Wiley.

Personal Interests
Dennis is an avid photographer, and created one of the earliest photo “blogs” during his 1999 Semester at Sea voyage (www.pitt.edu/~atsea) (before photo-oriented blogging tools became widely available). He also has provided many of the faculty photos on the Katz Web site. He also can sometimes be found in a dark sky location satisfying his newfound passion for astrophotography. Other personal interests include baking artisan bread, cooking, and home theater systems.
