Academic Excellence and Career Success: Pitt Business Shines in Poets&Quants 2024 Ranking

The Pitt Business undergraduate program is ranked No. 11 among public institutions and No. 30 among all business schools in the U.S. in the 2024 Poets&Quants Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking, released January 22, 2024. Pitt is also named the No. 1 public business school in Pennsylvania for the seventh straight year.

Innovative Experience-Based Learning

This national ranking is based on school and alumni surveys related to three broad components: Admissions Standards (the quality and diversity of students enrolling in a program); Student Experience (the ability of each business school to nurture, challenge, and develop the students’ minds); and Career Outcomes (how the market and world’s top employers respond to graduates).

“We are very proud of this recognition of the efforts of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni in offering a strong academic and co-curricular program,” says Deb Good, associate dean for undergraduate programs. “Pitt Business works hard to provide innovative experience-based learning projects in the classroom that allow our students to interact with representatives from partner companies. We couple that with advising and career development programming that prepares students to be strong contributors upon entry into the workforce and offer a wide spectrum of international experiences that give students a first-hand look at global competition.”

For the Class of 2023, 97 percent were placed in their first destination within six months of graduation – earning on average about $72,000, a new high.

In the Poets&Quants survey, alumni were asked to appraise their school’s academic and career advising services. The undergraduate program ranked third overall in academic advising services and eighth overall in career advising services.

Good says these results are a tribute to the tremendous, supportive impact of staff on the students. “We appreciate the assistance all members of the Pitt Business community have provided to build this program,” she says.
